EBC: Standing on Faith
UHPCLT is proud to partner with Emmanuel Baptist Church (EBC), a cornerstone of community life in Upper Hammonds Plains, to advance descendant-led housing and community development. Together, we are transforming 8.5 acres of church-owned land into a vibrant, affordable, and culturally grounded neighborhood that reflects both heritage and community aspirations.
As part of this initiative, UHPCLT has completed critical site feasibility and pre-development studies on EBC’s parking lot parcel, including a Boundary and Topographical Survey, a Base Level Geotechnical Assessment, and a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment. These studies confirm the site’s suitability for development and provide a strong technical foundation for next-stage planning.
Through extensive community engagement and visioning, priorities have been identified such as senior-friendly housing, wellness and gathering spaces, and multigenerational housing options that keep families connected. This partnership reflects our shared commitment to ensuring that land and housing in Upper Hammonds Plains are developed in ways that honour heritage, serve present needs, and create lasting opportunities for future generations, bringing faith-based institutions’ lands to a higher use for community benefit.
